This high-angle photo captures a room awash in hundreds of glowing computer monitors at AWS re:Invent, where Amazon instructors guided students preparing for various AWS Certification exams. IT professionals gathered both individually and in small groups around workstations, reviewing material, learning code, and building expertise on the AWS platform. Attendees traveled from around the world to the Las Vegas Sands Expo Convention Center to network, learn, teach, explore new products, attend keynote sessions from industry leaders, and advance their careers.
Rather than using a drone to capture this elevated perspective—which would be illegal, dangerous, and impractical inside a hotel ballroom—I mounted a camera atop a monopod and tethered it to a tablet running live-view software. This setup allowed me to precisely compose the shot, adjust focus, and trigger the shutter at the right moment.
My “quiet drone” approach delivers nearly all the advantages of a flying drone, without the noise or risk of spinning blades in a crowded indoor environment.
